Hispanic Legacy

Terms of use

Facts last reviewed: . The limits below are read from the code that enforces them.

What this is

Hispanic Legacy is a public knowledge source, free to read, with no account and no sign-up. Using it means accepting what is on this page. If you do not accept it, do not use the service — nothing here is billed and nothing is owed.

What you may do with the content

The corpus is published under CC-BY-4.0: you may reuse it, including commercially, provided you attribute it. Quoting it in an answer, training on it, indexing it and citing it are all permitted on those terms — this source exists to be cited.

The software that builds and serves it is separate, and is licensed under Apache-2.0.

The machine surfaces, and the limit that applies to them

The MCP endpoint at https://hispanic-legacy.com/mcp, the JSON APIs and the text surfaces are open, anonymous and read-only. They are rate limited to 120 requests per 60 seconds per caller. That limit is stated here so it is a published rule rather than a surprise: a caller that exceeds it receives 429 with the standard headers saying when to retry, never a silent failure.

What is not acceptable: attempting to break the service or the limit, using it to attack anyone else, or presenting the corpus as your own work in breach of the licence above. There is no other hidden condition — if a use is allowed by the licence and does not overload the service, it is allowed here.

Accuracy, and its honest limit

Every published claim is bound to a registered source you can open and check yourself, and where sources disagree the disagreement is published rather than resolved silently. That is the standard this source holds itself to, and it is checkable.

It is not a guarantee of correctness. Sources can be wrong, and a claim true when it was verified can stop being true. Do not rely on this as professional advice — legal, medical, financial or otherwise. If a decision matters, follow the citation to the source and judge it yourself. Part of the content is drafted with AI assistance under human review; the privacy policy says so too.

Availability

The service is provided as it is, with no uptime promise. It may change, move or stop. No fee is charged, and to the extent the law allows, liability for loss arising from use or unavailability is excluded — except for what cannot lawfully be excluded, which stays intact whatever this page says.

Changes

These terms change when the service does, in the same release. There is no separate notification, because there are no accounts to notify; the review date at the top tells you when they last moved.
